Updated

After some last minute tweaking......

Final Project

Oi!   This was a fun project. I was glad to be making something useful for work, since they have graciously supported me taking these courses..   I spent a lot of time on this map, but at the same time not as much as I would have liked...   So here it is,   HERE is my write up.

Class Has been  fun, and I have enjoyed being inspired by everyone and have learned something from everyone.

Kuler

This is from the Kuler assignment I did a while back..  It is not pretty, but the assignment was to make colors for it, so I did.....

Hopefully you can access them at THIS link....   if not, search for dougtape, there should be 5 there.

Bike map help

Ok fellas I am still working on the bike map, got a bit busy...
I need your opinions.  I think using a slope raster over the hillshade would be beneficial to people planning their routes.  But I can't get a color ramp to look decent and not blend into my other colors...    I have an elevation that looks good, but to me seems a bit less relevant to the purpose of this map.

So here are some drafts with much work left to be done...  Let me know which you like better please.  It will influence color choices for municipalities and other objects.

Project 2.

Below is my submission for project 2.  Let's just say I have  a new respect for the people who actually label all these little features on maps...

HERE  is the assignment....

I found the assignment challenging going between labels and annotation, I kept thinking I could change things in the annotation that was a labeling feature...  Needless to say, I have made quite a few annotation classes in the process.  I enjoyed being able to be meticulous in this assignment, except for the river layer, it may not be as good as the other labels due to having the stomach bug while trying to finish....

I have attached two finals, one with a legend one without, personally I like the one without better, but that is probably coming from knowing what all the symbols mean since I made them....  let me know which you prefer in your comments please.

More progessions...

With counties and Without....

Now here is a map...But still not finished...

Rats...

Forgot the whole thing with editing in layout (so I could zoom in and not mess up the frame) and deleting a messed up feature...    grrrrrrrrr.

Still A work in progress.  Don't look too closely yet....   Now to redo all the highways.....

Newbridge Landslide

Here are my final map, and report for our first assignment.  I am going to keep playing with the formatting on this blog until I can figure out the nuances, please leave tips and suggestions with comments on the map and assignments.

Here is the link to my Report on Affected Properties

You will see in the report that I  only focused on the 36 properties completely within the 1/4 mile radius, not the 73 that are partially within this zone.  Also I did not differentiate the fire districts explicitly since they may say two different names but Weaverville is responsible for responding to both districts.

Have a Great weekend!

Oh, I just discovered, click on the map to see it larger like it is supposed to be seen....
